The purpose of the award is to promote experiences in Spanish language and culture. The program or experience chosen by the recipient must be reviewed and approved prior to travel by the AATSP-MN board of directors. Likely to be approved are those which are educational or service-oriented and contain an immersion language learning component in which the student is expected to use exclusively Spanish as the means of communication for minimum of one week. Examples of such programs include Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy, Concordia Language Villages, Amigos de las Américas, college study abroad programs, travel with school Spanish class, and the like.
Upon approval from the Minnesota Chapter of the AATSP, payment shall be made to the organization prior to travel. Should travel be postponed or canceled once payment has been made, it shall be returned to AATSP-MN.
The award must be redeemed within 3 years of the date of award and is not transferable to anyone other than the person named. Request forms for redemption from AATSP-MN's NSE Coordinator and return them 3 months before the date of experience.
